New Year Celebration

January 1st is the first day of the year. Many people around the world are participated in this celebration. There are a lot of reasons why people celebrate this event, for example, changing thier behaviours, buying something new. And there is a big chance for seeing fireworks.

Big cities, big celebrations

1. New York City - Time Square
Time Square is a place where millions people around the world catch the eyes on. There is a Crystal Ball which will be released when New Year time has come.

2. London - River Thames
London is not only a very beautiful city but it also provides fantastic fireworks in New Year Celebration. Fireworks are set on the London Eye side of the river. You can watch it from the opposite side of the river, Westminster. At the end of the day, people will sing traditional Auld Lang Syne together.

3. Hong Kong - Victoria Harbour
Hong Kong is a city which was influenced by British empire. This city holds historic fireworks which are shown on Victoria harbour.

New Year in Thailand

The main places for celebrating are located in metropolis, Bangkok such as Central World, Asiatique Riverfront. But most Bangkokians usually go to northern and north-eastern of Thailand because those regions have cold weather. In addition, Central World is redecorated with a Christmas tree and many others. Counting down here is started with celebrities and singers. Lastly, Thais usually sing 'Porn Pee Mai' which means New Year Wishes as a New Year song.

New Year song of many western countries

You might not know that the New Year song of western countries is Auld Lang Syne. This is a very good song. Traditional Auld Lang Syne is played by Scottish Bagpipes. People will pull hands together then shake hands and sing that song. Although mostly Asians don't know Auld Lang Syne, Hong Kongers sing it as New Year song and Chinese also have Chinese version of it.
